Since their formation in 2004, La Dispute has grown into one of the most distinctive and influential names in post-hardcore scene. The American band blends raw intensity with poetic depth, fusing post-hardcore with elements of emo, screamo, and spoken word. Frontman Jordan Dreyer doesn’t write conventional lyrics, but instead crafts narrative, almost cinematic stories that hit just as hard live as they do on record. This literary approach is no coincidence: the band’s name is based on an 18th-century novel by Pierre de Marivaux. In September 2025, La Dispute released their first album in six years, “No One Was Driving the Car.” This concept record explores themes of existential uncertainty and societal disillusionment. Early 2026, La Dispute already returned to the Netherlands as part of their European club tour and it clearly left audiences wanting more.
