Geschichte

Im Jahr 1992 fanden die damaligen freiwilligen Mitarbeiter von stg. O.J.C. JERA`70 (des offenen Jugendzentrums in Ysselsteyn), dass es an der Zeit war, ein Open-Air-Festival in der Region zu organisieren. Und so ist es dann auch gekommen… Ein paar Zäune aus schwarzem Plastik, ein Anhänger als Podium, Tische als Bar, Flaschen Bier - und JERA OPEN AIR war geboren. Die Freiwilligen hatten immer mehr Spaß daran und von da an wurde jedes Jahr mit Kooperation der örtlichen Gewerbetreibenden ein Festivalgelände aus dem Boden gestampft und ein superschönes Festival abgehalten.

Im Lauf der Jahre haben die Freiwilligen durch Erfahrung gelernt und die Organisation wurde immer professioneller. Nachdem das Festival im Jahr 1999 während des Auftritts von Pater Moeskroen buchstäblich ins Wasser gefallen war, wurde beschlossen, die Sache anders anzupacken. Jera On Air 2020 wurde aufgrund der Koronapandemie leider auf 2022 verschoben.

In 2001 haben dann alle zum ersten Mal das Ergebnis bewundern können: ein stimmungsvolles Festivalzelt mit  Open-Air-Gelände. In diesem Jahr erhielt das Festival den neuen Namen JERA ON AIR. In der Zwischenzeit ist Jera On Air sehr viel größer geworden. Auf dem Gelände gibt es nun zwei Festivalzelte, die berühmte Punkbrockbar, eine Chill-Area, einen Food Court, Signierstunden, einen Festivalmarkt und einen Campingplatz. Inzwischen kommen jährlich über 40.000 Besucher zu diesem Festival.
